Understanding Stretch Wrappers for Industrial Use

By

Stretch wrap is a very stretchy plastic film that can be wrapped around any item of your choice. It is very similar to cling wrap that you use in the kitchen but is more durable and holds much better. Stretch wrappers are used in manufacturing companies to wrap the boxes that hold their products for shipping.

By wrapping the boxes in this material, the loads are more stable for transport. In many cases, companies will use stretch wrap to enclose several boxes together to help protect them from falling during transport. By doing this, it also makes handling the load much easier when the package reaches its destination. Not only does stretch wrap help make transporting products easier and safer, it also provides a slight amount of protection from moisture as well as dust. Because this material is so durable, it also helps prevent tampering of the product. Also, stretch wrap makes it very evident if the product is indeed messed with. The most common use for stretch wrap is to ensure that cartons stay on a pallet in warehouse distributions. Stretch wrap is the most cost effective way to do this. Application of stretch wrap is easy. It can be done manually or by machines.

Manually, all you have to do is purchase a roll of the material and tightly wrap the item which you wish to protect. While you must keep the plastic taught, you should not stretch it too tightly or you can damage the edges of the box. Machinery helps prevent these variables by applying a consistent amount of pressure as well as using a consistent amount of material. Depending on what you plan on using the stretch wrap for, you may want to invest in a stretch wrapper.
