Spring Cleaning Tips from the Experts
57With the lovely onset of Spring comes the not so lovely reminder that
it is time, once again to clean all of the little nooks and crannies
that have been purposely overlooked throughout the year. Whether you
are house cleaning Toronto areas or elsewhere, make time at least once
a year to really give your home or office a complete facelift. I will
share with you two of my most dreaded undertakings.
I will begin with the windows and window treatments. Get your kids,
husband or both to help and make a day of it, because this task truly
defines the word chore. While they are busy making your windows
sparkle, run your drapes to the dry cleaners or place your curtains in
the washing machine. Be sure to use the gentle cycle. Next, take a damp
cloth and wipe each of the windowsills. If you are lucky enough to have
shutters or mini-blinds, really get in there and clean them panel by
panel. Normally, I run a feather duster over them weekly. However, it
is quite shocking to see just how much dust still manages to
accumulate.
My second major project is to tackle all of the baseboards. I spot
clean during the year when dust is visible, but never do I pull out the
sofas, beds, etc., and dust each one. If you have a good vacuum cleaner
with a hose, it certainly makes the job less daunting. I happen to have
allergies, so I am always prepared to sneeze my way through this task.
Hopefully, for those of you house cleaning Toronto style, the pollen
has not yet arrived. Happy Spring!
